Since 1986, 5 Star Concrete Finishing has been a trusted leader in concrete services across Birmingham and the surrounding areas. Founded by Juan Hernandez, the company started as a small team specializing in commercial projects and quickly grew into a respected name in industrial and government work, including county jails, paper mills, and UPS warehouses. Over the years, we’ve expanded our expertise to include residential projects, delivering high-quality concrete solutions tailored to each client’s needs.
Today, under the leadership of Aaron Hernandez, 5 Star Concrete Finishing continues its legacy of excellence. With a degree in business management and real estate from the University of Alabama, Aaron brings a modern perspective to this family-run business while staying true to its core values of quality, precision, and customer satisfaction. Whether it’s a driveway, patio, or large-scale industrial project, we’re committed to crafting concrete work that stands the test of time.
Juan Hernandez 1986-2021
We were founded in 1986 by Juan Hernandez, after he was granted a citizenship during the Regan Reforms. Juan began working with his brother Abel and 2 labors on commercial projects in the 280 area initially. During the 90s, as they grew, they transition more into industrial and government work. Projects included county jails, prisons, paper mills, and UPS warehouses. In the 2000s during the housing boom Juan moved to more residential work. The 2008 Recession brought us down from 120+ employees to 13. In the 2010s as the economy recovered, we began regrowing to 60+ employees still emphasizing heavy on residential work. Juan passed away in 2021 and his son Aaron Hernandez took over the family business.
Aaron Hernandez 2018-Present
Aaron grew up in Pelham AL, he attended The University of Alabama and graduated in 2018 with a degree in business management and real estate. He went straight to work for his father after graduation. Aaron has only had one job is whole life and that is the concrete business. He obtained a residential builders license in 2022.
